The new number 1...

Before the Australian Open begins, me and my tbff made some bet who will win the AO, I choose a Willams and she have chosen JJ. Well now that the women singles is over a new number 1 seed has emerged and a Williams won. But sadly I bet on the wrong Williams. I choose Venus and now welcome the new number 1 seed and the new AO gradslam winner Serena Williams.

Clearly for the few minutes I know that Dinara Safina was a no match for Serena. It's a massacare on the court. Clearly Serena is on fire and top of her game. The score for the match is 6-0, 6-3. Anyway frustration can be clearly seen on Dinara's face. Told my tennis chatmates that Dinara always comes second, like in RG, Olympics and now AO, but never been a champion. I wonder when will her time will be. Oh well, there's always a new match waiting around the corner and May is just a few months away.

The Reader

Rating:★★★★★
Category:Movies
Genre: Drama
I honestly didn't know this movie until Poala told me about it. She said she wanted to watch a movie of Kate Winslet. I asked her if she's planning to watch Revolutionary Road, I told her that I've seen that movie, and it was kinda boring movie for me. But she said she wanted to watch The Reader, and popped me a link about it. Then there's Jazi, who asked me if I've read or seen books of Revolutionary Road and The Reader in bookstores. I told her that I've only seen Revolutionary Road. She told me that she's planning to read those books. So my curiosity about The Reader intensified, so I decided to watch it online.

It's about a story of Michael Berg(David Kross) who became ill on his way home, and was taken care by Hanna Schmitz(Kate Winslet). When Michael is good enough, he visited Hannah to say thank you. Hanna catches Michael looking after her while she's undressing. Embarrassed enough, Michael ran downstairs but later on returned. Hanna asked Michael to get some coal. He become dirty after getting coal so Hanna told Michael to take a bath. This is where their affair started. Michael returns to Hannah's apartment frequently to make love. They developed a pattern to read first (Michael read books to Hanna) before making love. One day Hanna disappeared. After several years Michael see's Hanna in a trial. Hannah was convicted and sentenced to life in prison. During that time Michael send Hanna an audiobooks and Hanna begins to study how to read and write. The day comes when Hanna is about to be released in prison, she committed a suicide. She has a will that states to give an old tin tea box to the daughter of the lady who survived the church fire but the lady refused the money and take only the tea box so that she can keep her mementos. After this meeting, Michael visits Hanna's grave for the first and only time.

I will rate the movie 5 stars and recommend it to be watch. Kate Winslet performance was superb and I think she deserves the award that she received from this movie. If I will have a time, I will also try to read the book..hope I can find that time.

What a day!

I always love Fridays since Friday for me means end of the week and start of my weekend. There's so much to do this day. Got an exciting matches and today is the coronation night of Mr.&Ms. San Beda 2009, which I can't watch.

I woke up early as usual to watch Australian Open. I managed to watch JJ's match and it was a good one.JJ won the match against Ai. Since Venus lost, and Serena is not playing good, I think JJ has a shot to win the GrandSlam tittle this time(crossing my fingers). Most of my favorites have a matches today. Dani lost, so I have the feeling that I'll be saying goodbye too on my other faves(though I know that I have to let go one of them since Fed will be fighting over my dreamboy Marat).  I left our house early so that I can catch Ana, Roger and Marat's match on livescores in the office. Then, there goes the rain! Im soaking wet when I got on the office. I open the livescores and viola! Ana is playing crap! Typically Ana. Lost on the first set, got the second set and choked on the third set. So goodbye Ana! Aggghhh!!! I was looking forward pa naman this weekend to watch tennis all day long! But then again, that's the game, only one can win...Please Ana, get a full time coach! How I miss Justine Henin...Now I wonder since my bet(Venus) lost, Ana lost too..who will I cheer...hmmm...Dinara still there, my clown(JJ) is still alive also...may pag asa pa! hehehe!

As expected my Roger won over my love of my life Marat. Gee, I was not able to watch this match live! This could be the last AO grandslam for my dreamboy. And he lost to a very good player. I wonder if my future sister in law(Dinara Safina) watched her brother's match. I remember her quotes before qhen Marat interviewed her sister:

"You're my god. When you play, I love watching you. When you lose, I'm even sadder than when I lose. When you're hurt, I suffer. When you talk to me, I drink your words. When you come to see me playing, I'm beside myself with joy. I hate hearing or reading something bad about you. I know you are hard-working and that you do everything you can to be number one. For me, you have the biggest talent of any player and I don't have half of your talent."

Same goes for me....but Roger is my god when it comes to tennis, though my heart completely belongs to Marat. So there goes my tennis life back to my office life. I got so many tickets today and I still have the Outlook problem. Since the Outlook will consume most of my time like yesterday, I decided to do first the usual creation tickets and other problems that are less irritating. Got my very first dose of caffeine for this year. Me and Ianne went to starbucks. Ewan ko nagkayayayaan lang. Then my sister keeps on texting me about the updates on my brother who is a contestant in the Mr&Ms San Beda. Im so proud of my brother!  Payroll  time, isa pa sa sakit ng ulo ko!  Then again, this is a task that I must do.To end this day.. I managed to close all of my tickets, did the payroll, except the Outlook problem. hay... I wonder when can I resolve this case...the answer/solution still eludes me. Goodluck to me on Monday...hahaha!

PS. Banchetto day namin ngayon! Ladies night out! Wala kasi si Eric na driver namin, at maagang umuwi si Charles. So me, ianne and chelly went to Ortigas para sa food trip! Pero bago yun bank hopping kasi hindi ako makawithdraw ng pera sa mga atm. Good thing that I have several atm cards to try on different banks kaso naman puro wala na sa maintaining balance! Ceff, if you are reading this blog can you email me kung magkano na lang balance ko sa card ko sa Metro and how much yung maitaning balance? The atm machine failed to issue me a receipt kasi..Ayun I managed to buy several foods, monster burger, carbonarra, banana walnut bread and my fave, the icing cookies!!! Yummy!! Im gonna eat it while watching my tv series and the rest mamayang AO!!!

Slumdog Millionaire

Rating:★★★★
Category:Movies
Genre: Action & Adventure
I've watched this movie last December online and some of my friends are asking if the movie was good. My answer is YES it's definitely a good movie. It's a story about an Indian boy named Jamal Malik who joined a contest Who Wants to be a Millionaire. Since he is from a slum, the host of the contest thought that Jamal is cheating. Little he know that Jamal knew the answers based on his daily life experiences. Anyway this was the very first Hindu movie that I watched from the start to finish and Im glad that I did it. And what is a Hindu movie without a dance number? They play a classical Bollywood musical number.

Inventory of normality

Just want to post an email that I've got from my gogo buddy. It is a list made by Paulo Coelho about which our society considers to be normal behavior. The list is made of some of the absurd situations we face in day-to-day life, just because society sees them as normal:

Inventory of normality

1] Anything that makes us forget our true identity and our dreams and makes us only work to produce and reproduce.

2] Making rules for a war (the Geneva Convention).

3] Spending years at university and then not being able to find a job.

4] Working from nine in the morning to five in the afternoon at something that does not give us the least pleasure, so that we can retire after 30 years.

5] Retiring only to discover that we have no more energy to enjoy life, and then dying of boredom after a few years.

6] Using Botox.

7] Trying to be financially successful instead of seeking happiness.

8] Ridiculing those who seek happiness instead of money by calling them "people with no ambition".

9] Comparing objects like cars, houses and clothes, and defining life according to these comparisons instead of really trying to find out the true reason for being alive.

10] Not talking to strangers. Saying nasty things about our neighbors.

11] Thinking that parents are always right.

12] Getting married, having children and staying together even though the love has gone, claiming that it's for the sake of the children (who do not seem to be listening to the constant arguments).

12ยช] Criticizing everybody who tries to be different.

14] Waking up with a hysterical alarm-clock at the bedside.

15] Believing absolutely everything that is printed.

16] Wearing a piece of colored cloth wrapped around the neck for no apparent reason and known by the pompous name "necktie".

17] Never asking direct questions, even though the other person understands what you want to know.

18] Keeping a smile on your face when you really want to cry. And feeling sorry for those who show their own feelings.

19] Thinking that art is worth a fortune, or else that it is worth absolutely nothing.

20] Always despising what was easily gained, because the "necessary sacrifice" – and therefore also the required qualities – are missing.

21] Following fashion, even though it all looks ridiculous and uncomfortable.

22] Being convinced that all the famous people have tons of money saved up.

23] Investing a lot in exterior beauty and paying little attention to interior beauty.

24] Using all possible means to show that even though you are a normal person, you are infinitely superior to other human beings.

25] In any kind of public transport, never looking straight into the eyes of the other passengers, as this may be taken for attempting to seduce them.

26] When you enter an elevator, looking straight at the door and pretending you are the only person inside, however crowded it may be.

27] Never laughing out loud in a restaurant, no matter how funny the story is.

28] In the Northern hemisphere, always wearing the clothes that match the season of the year: short sleeves in springtime (however cold it may be) and a woolen jacket in the fall (no matter how warm it is).

29] In the Southern hemisphere, decorating the Christmas tree with cotton wool, even though winter has nothing to do with the birth of Christ.

30] As you grow older, thinking you are the wisest man in the world, even though not always do you have enough life experience to know what is wrong.

31] Going to a charity event and thinking that in this way you have collaborated enough to put an end to all the social inequalities in the world.

32] Eating three times a day, even if you're not hungry.

33] Believing that the others are always better at everything: they are better-looking, more resourceful, richer and more intelligent. Since it's very risky to venture beyond your own limits, it's better to do nothing.

34] Using the car as a way to feel powerful and in control of the world.

35] Using foul language in traffic.

36] Thinking that everything your child does wrong is the fault of the company he or she is keeping.

37] Marrying the first person who offers you a position in society. Love can wait.

38] Always saying "I tried", even though you haven't tried at all.

39] Putting off doing the most interesting things in life until you no longer have the strength to do them.

40] Avoiding depression with massive daily doses of television programs.

41] Believing that it is possible to be sure of everything you have won.

42] Thinking that women don't like football and that men don't like interior decoration.

43] Blaming the government for everything bad that happens.

44] Being convinced that being a good, decent and respectful person means that the others will find you weak, vulnerable and easy to manipulate.

45] Being convinced that aggressiveness and discourtesy in treating others are signs of a powerful personality.

46] Being afraid of fibroscopy (men) and childbirth (women).

47] And finally, thinking that your religion is the sole proprietor of the absolute truth, the most important, the best, and that the other human beings in this immense planet who believe in any other manifestation of God are condemned to the fires of hell.

Marat my love...

My dream boy... If this will be his last year in tennis I hope I can watch most of his matches. At least I know that this will be his last year unlike Justine Henin's retirement that surprised me!

My Bitter Roger

"Hopefully I can just have another terrible year with only just the one grand slam and that will be just fine."

Ahwww Roger you're breaking my heart! hahaha!
