Hong Kong Adventure for the 2nd time around

Ok, this post is way over due. Im so swamped with work and I haven't got time to visit and write on my blog. So here we go.

As most of you know, the main purpose of my travel to Hong Kong is to watch the Hong Kong Tennis Classic 2010 because my dear Marat Safin is playing. But unfortunately he withdrew from the tournament due to wrist injury. At first I have no companion to travel, but since I have a super duper great friends, one of them decided to join me on the trip!

No sleep and straight from work, me and Jen went to airport to board our flight. This is my first time traveling Cebu Pacific on international flight. We arrived in Hong Kong at around 7am and boarded A11 bus. Our stop is on Sugar Street. Me and Jen got confused on which direction our hostel is. But Hong Kong is a very tourist friendly city, you can see signs anywhere and in just a minute we are back on track to our hostel. We've stayed in Malboro Hostel in Causeway Bay. I specifically choose this place since its a walking distance to Victoria Park, where the tennis tournament is being held. Our room is small but tidy and quite ok since most of the time we are out, we only need the room for sleeping and taking bath. Oh I forgot to mention the comfort room is too small, but you can still take a bath, etc. After setting in and talking to Hotel Mama which she thought I am a Chinese, me and jen explored Causeway Bay! First stop is my favorite IKEA store! I always visit IKEA when Im in HK. I just love this place. I hope there will be IKEA too in Philippines. Then we went to SOGO after that, we meet FOON, my new found friend! We've just meet in Facebook and she's a very nice friend! She treated us for lunch in a resto where her aunt work. We ate pasta and I ordered Red Beans as my dessert drink.

After lunch we went now to Victoria Park to meet Shang, a friend that I meet in Pinoy Exchange. She's a tennis addict too like me. We start waiting for the players in the parking lot. I cant believe that I have a picture of Caroline Wozniacki and Stephan Edberg! I've seen Maria Sharapova and Paradorn Schripan too but didnt ask for their photo. And also Ayumi Morita of Japan. Watched now the first day of Hong Kong Classic. Team Asia vs Team Russia. Bepa won the first match. So is Maria vs Zheng, I was hoping Zheng will win. She played so well. The audience are screaming go Team Asia, then another one will scream go Team Russia, then Michael Joyce(masha's coach) will scream go Team Masha! hahaha!

Me and Jen went to Nyong Ping island to visit the village and the giant Buddha. And of course to ride the cable car! Last time I was in HK, I wasn't able to ride it since it was under maintenance. Me and Jen choose the crystal cabin so that we can see the floor. Had a great time in the village. And after that we went to the Citygate outlet mall. I like this mall since its an outlet store. I was able to buy a NIKE bag at a very cheap price! If only I have money to burn, there are lots of things to buy!

Day 2 of the Tennis Hong Kong Classic. This time it rained! Really rain!!! I didn't catch the first match since I was so pissed waiting for the rain to stop. I decided to tour Jen in Shiam Po at the Golden Arcade plaza so she can canvass the price for PSP and XBOX. I also bought a stitch itouch casing there! Its so gorgeous I cant resist buying it! Then went back to Victoria Park to catch the remaining matches.

January 8

Went to Macau! We ride the ferry going to Macau. It's my first time going to this country. It is colder than Hong Kong. Our guide said that it is always minus 2 for the temp. in Macau.(example HK temp is 14C so minus 2 its 12C for Macau temp.) Went to Senado Square, Ruins of St. Paul, Macau Museum, Sky tower, and of course different casinos! We also watched Bubble show and the fountain in Wynn. Too bad the prosperity tree is under maintenance at that time. Our feet is so tired from walking! Going back to HK, we now took the Cotai Strip which is much much more better than the Turbo Jet. So for those going to Macau by ferry I suggest you to take the COTAI STRIP!

January 9
DISNEYLAND Trip with my friend FOON! This is my 3rd time in disneyland HK. Nothing much change. Except the food is much better, a High School Musical Show and a Small World ride. But unfortunately the small world ride is under maintenance. So yeah, last time I was there, there's no small world, now that Im here, it is closed! Probably on my next return I can ride that ride. haha!

After the disneyland trip we went to the avenue of the stars. Ate a very interesting food, I forgot the name of the food. But is good and cheap. Me and Foon parted ways in Causeway Bay station. Im so quiet at that time since I hate saying goodbye and Im gonna miss her company. In a short period of time, we became so close. Oh I miss my friend.

January 10
My last day in HK. We went to Ocean Park. And Ocean Park is way way better than Disneyland. Many things have changed since my last visit and up to know Ocean Park is expanding! Last minute shopping at Mongkong! I was able to buy a flip flops and wallet in Roxy/Quicksilver! And I was hoping to buy a Yonex badminton racket but it will take time since they will have to sting the racket. If only we had enough time!

Things that I've learned in my HK trip...
- when you want to go someplace, you can ask your friend, ask them once or twice, after that stop. Don't beg. It wont get you nowhere. Just book and fly!
- Credit card and debit card are a wonder! I love VISA!
- when it says SALE its definitely SALE in HK.
- blend in so that no one will take advantage of you.
- Common Sense always!
- Facebook and forums works! You can meet a lot of great people there!
- That Im gonna go back again and again in HK!
