One Note and XPS printer missing

Today I received complains from students that they are missing their Send to One Note and Microsoft XPS Document Writer on their printer list. Did a lot of search in Google and none of them works. Most of them have the same solution as this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/952216

What did I do to solve this issue? Ok here's what I did.

For the Microsoft XPS Document Writer
1. Go to Devices and Printer
2. Click on Add a printer and click on Add a Local Printer

3. Just use an existing port and just select LPT1
4. Under Manufacturer select Microsoft and select Microsoft XPS Document Writer
5. Click Next and finish and were done!

One Note issue:
What I did first is I uninstall and reinstall Microsoft Office on the laptop but it did not installed back the One Note on the Printer thing. So next thing that I did is REPAIR.

1. Go to Control Panel
2. Select Program and Features
3. Click on Microsoft Office
4. Click on Change
5. Click Repair
6. Once its done do a restart and it Send to One note will be back on Devices and Printers

FIFA full of bull and crap

Dear FIFA,

I was having a good Friday, then I read the news about suspension and fining our captain Christine Sinclair. What took you so long to make this decision and why this kind of result? Seriously 4 game suspension and a fine?

WTF I tell you!!! Im so sadden with what's happening to sports right now. Its like politics and money are the only thing that matters! I love both teams, USWNT and CANWNT. As a matter of fact I love sports, Im passionate about it, that's why Im so sad reading the news. I didn't see anything wrong that my captain has done. She said things, ok I get it, but it was in heat of the moment. They are playing the game of their life and suddenly a referee made stupid calls on the game. Why is it Christine  is the only one penalized? Why not the whole team? And why the hell not the referee who made the call?

And now Im calling you FIFA a disgrace, a fraud, a complete total BS, will you penalized me too? How about the commentators during that Olympic game who said bad things also? Before I was so excited that the World Cup for womens will be held here in Canada and my city Winnipeg is one of the venue, but right now...meh. I've lost my interest.

As for our Captain Christine Sinclair, your tweet response is so classy. We are always here to back you up Captain! You are golden for me no matter what!

Adobe Flash player download timed out

Today I received a lot of complain from students that they are unable to install Adobe Flash Player on their laptops. Download will stops at 7% then proceed with a timed out at 47%.

I have disabled the antivirus and firewall but same results. So what did I do to resolve the issue?

Go to safe mode and from there install the Flash player. I don't know what causing this problem but when I googled it, a lot of people had this kind of problem also and they suggested a lot of ways to resolve it like downloading a file to remove existing flash installation on the pc then going to different folders to remove files and such. But yeah just go to safe mode and install flash. I tested it for more than 25 laptops and its working! :-)

USO Retirement

Yesterday Kim Clijsters played her last single tennis game. She officially retire for the second time. Im not a Kim fan but I like her attitude towards other player. She is one of the nicest women tennis player I think. Kim always hugs the player on the other side of the net after match. What will I remember of her?

- splits
- her romance with Lleyton Hewitt
- the USO 2009( its really inspiring!!!!)

Then today Andy Roddick announced that he will retire. USO will be the last tennis tournament for him. Wow I used to have crush on this guy way way back when he still have plenty of hair on his head!  So what will I remember Andy with?

- his huge serve!
- his frankness
- he used to date Mandy Moore!
- he's married to sexy Brooklyn Decker
- Wimbledon 2009 finals with Roger Federer

Im kinda sad, for tennis world is saying goodbye to these two champions. They will be greatly missed. But Im happy for them too since they are moving for the next chapter of their lives. Especially both of them are married!

Mail Merge day

Please do this mail merge. That's the task I have for today. And panic mode strikes! I forgot how to do mail merge since the last time I do a mail merge was eon ago! Thankfully there's Google. Now the only problem I have is printing! Hope tomorrow I'll have this task done.

And while at home I practice my mail merge skills but apparently MS Word on Mac is totally different! And of course Google comes to rescue me from my stupidity!

Olympics Womens Soccer Finals

Just as I expected Canada won the "golden" bronze and USA won gold. Im so happy for these two countries especially for Canada since they never give up! Even though its bronze its a gold medal for me for their superb performance! Im looking forward to see the team on the upcoming World Cup 2015 to be held here in Canada!

USA-CANADA semifinals olympics

Today Canada lost to USA on women's semifinals soccer. Before the game started I told my friends that Im so torn, didn't know which team to cheer, Canada or US. Most of my friends replied that Im gonna cheer for team USA since I love this team especially Hope, Abby and Alex.

As the game moves on, I caught myself cheering for Canada. Christine Sinclair is superb! And I've been irritated by the referee's call. But in the end team USA won because of wonderful goal by one of my fave player Alex Morgan! Its a win-win situation for me too. Deep respect for Team Canada for never giving up! Thursday will be a good rematch for USA and Japan ala World Cup!

Upgraded to Mountain Lion

Finally my free code arrived! So yes Im using the new OS for Mac. Mountain Lion. Steps that I took to upgrade below.

5 emails arrived on my mailbox. 1 of them has the password and 4 of them has a pdf attachment. So the password worked only on 1 pdf.

Open the Mac App Store and click on Redeem.

Download the Mountain Lion. File is more than 4GB. So if you have slow internet connection, it might take awhile. I don't know if Apple provide a USB or a CD copy of it. But for sure if you have a slow connection, you can always bring your Mac to the Apple store to download and install the new OS.

Installation took more than 45 minutes for me. I don't see much change on speed or battery life on my Mac after upgrading. (probably because my Mac is always connected to a power supply and I rarely turn it off)

I love Messages app. I can now use my mac to send messages to my friends who have iOS devices. And it is sync with my iphone and ipad! Dictation is kinda cool too! And the other new features... I didn't bother to check and use it as of now. Even the notification is not yet set. Kinda busy watching Olympics! :D

Parallels Desktop for Mac

Just so you know I got a HP laptop and this Macbook Pro. I do my work and game stuff on my HP which runs Windows 7 and for Mac I just surf the net and watch movies/tv series. Yeah I know a machine worth more than $2K just for Facebook. lol

So I decided to install Windows 7 on this Mac. I was choosing which one to use before...bootcamp or parallel? I went to later.

Now that I successfully install Windows 7, every haters can now STFU. Now I can use my Mac with my work stuff. And I know what's on your mind about the HP. FYI its not my laptop. Its a school property!

PS. I still don't have my code for the free Mountain Lion. I already called Apple support and they said that they confirmed that my application has already been approved and just wait for the email. Might take about 72 Hrs. Seriously Apple?!

Lets talk about piracy...

And like what I said on my header..lets talk about piracy. What is piracy and how does it differs from thief? As kumareng Mirriam said:

Piracy:
the unauthorized use of another's production, invention, or conception especially in infringement of a copyright

Thief:
one that steals especially stealthily or secretly; also : one who commits theft or larceny

So there, I don't know if you catch the difference or not. On my point of view piracy is copying of materials, the original materials will still be there. Thief is stealing things and original material will be long gone. The picture below will explain much better.

And why am I talking about it? Last week I got a very demanding request from someone to jailbreak his iOS device and where to download stuff. His approach is too strong that time and I snapped! Told him that I no longer jailbreak things ever since I moved to CA and told him that if he really wanna jailbreak all he need is kumpareng Google.

I think everything is in the internet nowadays. All you need to do is search. Knowledge is free if you know where to look. Did I support piracy? Sadly yes. I did support it a lot back in PH. Hidalgo Street in Quiapo is my haven. It offers a lot of stuff. From Game CDs to DVDs. Piracy back then is like sampling things for me. If I like the stuff, I will buy the original thing. PH has the worst market thing because we have this no return no exchange thing. So why would I buy an original CD without listening to it first.  Oh yeah it still doesn't justify things. I read on an article about piracy, the author said that piracy in a 3rd world country is somehow legal. Why? People on a 3rd world country doesn't have the means to buy stuffs so they went to the next best thing...piracy. The internet speed in PH and probably on other "poor" countries is so slow and will take a month in order to download a bluray copy of a movie.

Moving in CA, I changed a lot. I noticed that a lot of people buy and rent movies and books online. Sometime I think they are dumb paying a lot of $$$ for they can just download it online. But then again they have the means to buy. They have the spending power to buy those things. And thankfully me too. Most DVDs and BluRays are affordable. Sometimes they play at around $5 to $20. But those are old titles. But still a goodies! And Netflix offers 1 month free trial and just $8 bucks a month. Now I sound like promoting things. And my train of thoughts is now wayward since Im typing this entry while watching Castle. Yes I bought all the Castle series on iTunes courtesy of Apple. Got the free $100 gift card when I bought my Mac last last week. :)

Just because...

Im kinda irritated because some people are judging me of not watching tagalog shows. Just because I dont watch tagalog movies/teledrama/shows it doesnt makes me a lesser person or a higher one!

I remember times when my mom will call me and ask me about the name of this person in TV and I will say "Hindi ko alam." Then she will scold me saying "Hindi ka kasi nanonood ng tagalog kaya wala kang alam!" I mean seriously?! Then some people will ask me about local chizmis and sometimes I really don't have a clue what they are talking about. And there are times when they ask about whose that artist and I will give them a name and suddenly they will burst into laughters and make fun of me because I didn't give the correct name. Why ask if you know already the answer?! But seriously, I know some local artist! Just what I told my sef, if I know that artist that means sikat sya! And FYI, I watched tagalog shows! I really like Encantadia! That's the tv show that I really love and I always look forward going home to watch it. And my favorite showbiz actress is Lea Salonga. And I have this HUGE crush to Derek Ramsay. Fave tagalog movies? None. But just so you know I watched tagalog movies! Remember those times when we are young on ABS-CBN during 3PM, they will show tagalog movies at that timeslot everyday. I watched those movies. Why did I stop watching those shows? Probably because of cable TV and a VHS, I started watching english movies and I was awe in the productions and stories. Its not your typical tagalog movie where you know that there will be a dance number for every movie and sometimes its on the beach or swimming pool, the contrabida will die but will say a lot of stuffs before dying, ammunition will never run out, etc. etc. And these days you'll never want me as a movie buddy watching tagalog movies coz its either I fall as sleep on the show or I'll just make fun of the movie and you will end up angry or annoyed with me. If you don't believe me on these you can ask my friends or a family member of mine.

So there, don't judge me by not watching tagalog shows. Everyone has a choice. Its my choice not to watch it. Peace.

Lucky day!

I've been drinking Tim Hortons coffee ever since I moved here in Canada. And Tim's got a contest right now about Roll up to win. There are a lot of prizes involved and I really want to win that car. hahaha!

So yeah been drinking Tims everyday. Probably I consume a maximum of 3 XL coffee per day and a minimum of 2 L coffee. Not to mention that I sometimes have an iced caps when going home from work. Iced caps is the frappucino  version of Tim Hortons. And may I say that I liked their new flavor  peach mango! Okay back to my story...My cousin told me that he knows someone that won a car already. And I told him that I never won anything even though I drink coffee everyday. And viola! Today is my lucky day! I finally got something! A free coffee! So I exchanged my winning and surprised when the barista asked me what size do I want! Ofcourse an extra large double-double please!  And its free! Now I can say to my cousin that I finally win something.

After consuming my free XL double-double I roll up the rim again and lucky me! Another free coffee! So today I saved almost $5 bucks for my coffee expenses! Merci Tim and hopefully on my next coffee it will be the Toyota Camry car or the 3D TV package!

Hello Lazy

Its been a while! I almost forgot that I had this blog. And yes Im still alive despite the fact that Im now living independently without my parents here in Canada. Thank you fast food, canned goods and microwavable foods for keeping me alive!

So I've been here in Winnipeg for almost 5 months. Got a good job at school. I can say its a dream job! So peaceful and less stressful compare to the previous job that I had. But sometimes I miss the challenges and the pressure from work. I really like having a difficult task because it motivates me to do better and makes my bird brain work. You know me, I really hate my brain being idle. I feel dumb if Im doing nothing. That's why I always read, play video games or watch tv/movies. And especially right now if Im just idle, my brain will just wander around missing my family, my dog and my friends. With that I will sunk on a depression mode and daydream of an alternate universe where Im living on Manila and doing my usual stuff back there.

I've been asked many times when do I plan to go back in Manila. And my answer is December 2013. That is my target date. Of course many things will happen, it might push through or not; I can go back as early or as late depending on the situation. I promised some friends that I'll go home with some conditions.

So how's my life here so far? Bored to death! If I said before that Singapore is the most boring city that I've been through, I take it back, its Winnipeg! My life here is just a cycle of sleep, work, eat, clean house(oh yeah! I know now how to vacuum, clean toilet, and wash the dishes), and do the laundry. Its been a wake up experience to me on how pampered I am. I really adore my mom and until now I don't know how she managed her time for us, her family. My mom does everything on our house; she cooks, she cleans, do the laundry, iron our shirts, and work for a living. And with me here, I really have a little time for myself. I always feel rob or cheated with time. My friends keeps on saying that I have to learn how to cook, and deep inside I really want to, but until now, I haven't cooked any single meal. I know if I really want to learn I can learn it, but I don't feel that its a priority besides there are fast food chains here and microwavable foods all I need is money. :-D

This is the longest period that I didn't have any travel. My wandering heart yearns to travel. Most of the time I find myself doing a mock booking on flightnetwork and sometimes going to Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines website. I miss the sun, the sweat and the beach especially right now that its summer in the Philippines. I miss my old lifestyle.

A friend of mine asked why did I go to Canada, and I answered "Because I can". Lesson that I learned here, just because I can, it doesn't have to be that I should do it. Did I regret going here? NO. I just wish that I have my sister;brother or one of my close friends here with me to lessen the boredom.
