And so we call it quits...

Time to hang that cleats and call it quits. Today David Beckham announced his retirement. Oh boy, Im so in love this is football player for the longest time and still is.

It started with a picture from a magazine that my aunt brought home from Andorra. I asked who this gorgeous boy is, and she told me its David Beckham a famous footballer in Europe. And since then I started following football game. So in short it is David Beckham that got me into football. The reason why Im a full blooded RED fan. A proud Manchester United fan.  I really hate it when a favorite of mine retires. I feel they still have plenty of games to play and to be won. Sad to say I was not able to watch David play live. When he visited Manila and played against the Azkals, Im already away. Oh well...So whats my favorite Beckham moments? I say the heart breaking red card when he is playing for England at the world cup against Argentina.

From an interview today:

GN: How do you want to be remembered, as a football player, as a person over these last 22 years, and everything that you've achieved? Someone who did what? Achieve what? What's most important to you?
DB: I just want people to see me as a hard-working footballer. Someone that's passionate about the game. Someone that, every time I stepped on the pitch, I've given everything that I have, because that's how I feel. Going into games at the end of my career, that's how I look back on it and hope people will see me. Because I think, over the years, it's been my life and my career. People have obviously looked at certain other things that have gone on throughout my career, and I think sometimes that's overshadowed what I've done on the pitch and what I've achieved on the pitch. As much as I say that doesn't hurt me, of course it does. At the end of the day, I'm a footballer who has played at some of the biggest football clubs in the world. Played with some of the best players in the world. Played under some of the biggest and best managers, and achieved almost everything in football.

For me Beckham move is really good. Retire with class, retire as a champion. I hope Manny Pacquiao will learn something from this...
